The Department of Kinesiology and Nutrition is seeking applicants for the position of Graduate Research Assistant to begin Fall 2020 semester.

The GRA will support various research projects overseen by Dr. Vanessa Oddo, including but not limited to, the NIH-funded study Precarious Employment as a Determinant of Obesity and Cardiometabolic Risk. Specifically, the GRA will work with Dr. Oddo and collaborators to refine the measurement of poor quality or precarious employment; examine the impact of precarious employment on nutrition-related disease(s); and evaluate whether precarious employment contributes to race/ethnic health disparities. The GRA will serve as the primary analyst on a subset of secondary data (the National Survey of Adolescent to Adult Health).

• Strong quantitative analytic skills, particularly with large population level datasets
• Demonstrated proficiency with statistical programs, such as SAS, Stata or R
• Ability to work independently as well as part of an interdisciplinary research team
• Excellent written communication skills
• Familiarity with econometric methods preferred but not required.

This appointment will be a 50% (20 hours a week) Graduate Research Assistant with a stipend and tuition waiver. Interested candidates are invited to submit a cover letter detaining their relevant background and a recent CV to Dr. Vanessa Oddo, voddo@uic.edu by August 10th.
