Job Summary:

UI-Health Radiology is seeking a Medical Radiographer Technologist II within the Diagnostic Services facility.

This position will be under the direction of the Assistant Direction. The position will   perform routine procedures, under the direction of an Interventional Radiologist and/or Angiography Supervisor.

The work schedule will be days Monday-Friday.  The start time will vary between 7:00 -9am. This position requires availability for on call- which includes; Weekdays, Weekends, and Holidays (on a rotation basis).

Key Responsibilities/Duties:

• Responsible for the complete knowledge of diagnostic procedures and to be trained in specialized procedures which require a complete understanding of anatomical positioning and physiology, so that independent selection and modification of technical factors will produce optimum Radiology results.
• Position and transfer patient on and off radiographic table.
• Provide immobilization devices, if required, to obtain optimum results.
• Select proper technical factors on individual basis and make necessary adjustments in techniques when advised by the supervisor.
• Select and operate all non-angiographic radiographic equipment including C-Arm mobile units; which requires X-rays at bedside and in O.R. train with angiographic equipment.
• Assist with completing records as directed in angiography, accounting sheets, medical forms, daily work sheets, etc.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness within the department.
• Utilizes procedure and supply codes and charges appropriately.
• Assist in the development of technical factors, film development and image processing.
• Demonstrate the ability to use a wide variety of equipment (eg. Automatic Injector, Imaging Equipment, electrophysiological monitoring equipment, 3-D and other images processing workstations and PACS).
• Responsible for delegated areas of authority in conjunction with the performance of routine procedures.
• Assist Physician in administering contrast media when necessary.
• Cooperate with all personnel in the proper conduct of the Department and maintain a high ethical relationship with all co-workers and patients.
• Document completion of all training and in-services, including Net Learning.
• Assure accurate completion of patient records and charges.
• Relocate within the department when needed and rotate shifts as required.
• Assist in performing angio on-call procedures (when trained – approximately 6 months training); participate in On-call on a rotating basis and reports to department within one hour from time called.
• Instruct and supervise Radiographer I - Angiography, when necessary.
• Develop film by automatic processing, operate all laser printers and access images on PACS system.
• Assist in performing special angiographic procedures with another technologist and alone when trained.
• Demonstrates knowledge of sterile techniques and maintains sterile field during special procedures.
• Assist supervisor and Nurse in ordering and stocking supplies.
• Attend and participate in continuing education classes.
• Demonstrate to appropriate handling and interaction with geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and neo-natal patients.
• Input and retrieve information from designated computer systems within department and institution.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications Required:

  1. Current/valid registration and certification in Radiography by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  2. Current/valid accreditation as a Radiologic Technologist by the State of Illinois (IEMA).
  3. Based on institutional requirements, a current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification by an approved certifying board as defined by the employing institution.
  4. Two (2) years (24 months) of work experience as a Radiologic Technologist.
