Project WISH is seeking to fill a Phlebotomist II position for various COVID-19 vaccine trials.

Project WISH is a clinical research site of the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Illinois at Chicago, with a 20+ year history of conducting clinical trials and basic science research for the prevention and treatment of many infectious diseases. Throughout our history, Project WISH has been primarily devoted to the search for a vaccine against HIV, as well as treatment drugs and vaccines for infectious diseases. 

 

•  Performs difficult blood drawing techniques under specialized circumstances (such as drawing blood from newborns or patients with venous complications).
•  Assists with blood donor screening and collects blood units.
•  Recognizes adverse reactions in patients (such as changes in skin temperature or fainting) and initiates appropriate response.
•  Trains lower level employees and student externs in phlebotomy techniques.
•  Assists in monitoring expendable supplies; stocks area as needed.
•  Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS

 
  1. High school graduation or equivalent
    1. Possession of a current Phlebotomist or Phlebotomy Technician Certification
      OR
    2. Completion of one year of full time work experience performing the duties of a phlebotomy technician in an accredited laboratory within the last five years. This experience must include venipunctures, skin punctures, observation of arterial punctures, and orientation in a full service laboratory. (Full time experience is considered thirty-five hours per week.
