Job Summary

The University of Illinois UI-Health is seeking a full time HealthCare Technician-- Mammography in Diagnostic Services.

This position will be under supervision from a designated Breast Imaging Technologist and assists in the examination and or treatment of patients in a clinical setting.

 

 

 

Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Prepare patients for Breast Imaging exams or similar; assists with the positioning of patients on the examination table and/or covering patients
  • Obtain and records patient vital signs
  • Set up and monitors medical equipment and performs data entry as needed
  • Assist physicians, technologists or other medical professionals with examinations, treatments and procedures and prepares films and/or uploads disks with previous images for Radiologist review
  • Explain instructions to patient when indicated by the physician or technologists
  • Assist with movement or transport of patients
  • Complete patient history information, exam forms and reports as needed
  • Collect specimens from patients using standard medical procedures and labels them per policy
  • Answer phones and coordinates patient logistics with clerical staff
  • Monitor and logs equipment readings and monitors patient condition throughout a test or procedure
  • Clean and disinfects equipment and examination rooms according to policy; removes soiled linen and disposes of it according to infection control policy
  • Stock procedure/examination rooms with supplies; assists with supply orders and reconciliation upon delivery
  • Help maintain medical equipment and reports service issues
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

 

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications

High school graduation or equivalent.

  1. Any one or any combination totaling six (6 months) from the following categories:
    1. Six (6 months) of work experience in direct patient care in a healthcare setting or equivalent.
    2. College course work in a related field as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent.
      • 30 semester hours equals six (6 months)

Preferred Experience:

Experience assisting with Breast Imaging exams.
