Job Summary:

The Office of Student Systems Services is seeking an IT Technical Associate (Applications Developer).

This position assists UIC Extended Campus and the Office of Student Systems Services (OSSS) Assistant Director to integrate the Banner Student Systems data with Academic Partnerships software for online programs.  The position will work with the vendor Academic Partnerships as needed to provide the necessary data for on-line programs.  The position will report to the Information Technology Manager/Administrative Coordinator in the Office of Student Systems Services.

Key Responsibilities / Duties:

  • Work with UIC Extended Campus, OSSS and Academic Partnerships to develop the student systems interface for Banner student data required for Academic Partnerships’ on-line programs.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining the interfaces from Slate to the Academic Partnerships for student application data.
  • Responsible for database configuration and setup necessary for the interfaces.  This includes creating any interim steps, tables, schemas and crosswalks for moving data from Banner/Slate to Academic Partnerships. 
  • Responsible for XML and JSON data structures and encode/decode using programming languages for creating the interfaces.
  • Work with  REST and SOAP to read and write data from web services (API)
  • Create the necessary checks and balances for data migration between systems.
  • Work with UIC Extended Campus as needed for current Slate interfaces for other UIC Extended Campus programs.
  • Investigate and resolve data migration issues related to UIC Extended Campus’ programs including Academic Partnerships.
  • Write queries and reports as needed for the UIC Extended Campus programs.
  • Maintain the interfaces related to Banner Student and Slate upgrades
  • Provide UIC Extended Campus Staff implementation and ongoing support for Academic Partnerships.
  • Work within OSSS standards for application deployment including versioning software.   
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Perform other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications Required:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field. 
  2. A minimum of 5 years professional IT experience within IT Development which includes experience in developing and/or modifying new and existing applications, including requirement analysis, design, code, test, debug, implementation and maintenance. 
  3. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the design/development of Object Oriented applications utilizing .Net, Java, and/or PHP as well as Oracle and/or MySQL or similar RDBMS.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • IT Project Lead experience
  • Familiarity with XML and JSON
