The Department of Neurology and Rehabilitation at the University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking a non-benefits full-time Academic Hourly position that will work under the guidance of a Principal Investigator (PI) performing general lab maintenance including preparation of reagents and assisting with or conducting experiments under supervision of senior lab members. The PI’s laboratory uses cellular molecular and electophysiologic techniques to study the roles of connexins in myelinating glia.

  • Preparation for solutions; including preparation of reagents and assisting with or conducting experiments.
  • Perform western blot and immunocytochemistry.
  • Assist the PI with maintaining animal colony and genotyping.
  • Maintain inventory and ordering of supplies.
  • Other duties as assigned related to the job.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in biology chemistry physics or related field required.

Lab/research experience (minimum 1 year desirable).

Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge of research principles, concept, practices and methods.

Proficient in specific lab research techniques.

Strong interpersonal skills and a high level of organization with careful attention to details.
