Job Summary:

Administers a broad range of activities within the Office of the Dean; monitors school-wide progress on strategic goals; manages numerous projects and effective follow-up working in close collaboration with the Dean and Executive Associate Dean. Researches, compiles and analyzes data, statistics and other information. Staffs and coordinates follow-up for key management meetings; oversees the liaison and follow-up with University and College constituents. Supervises Dean’s Office support staff and oversees administrative support structure across the all units within the College; oversees work flow to ensure effectiveness of administrative operations, specifically in areas of faculty affairs, tenure, research support, academic affairs, and business. Prepares a wide variety of remarks and speeches for the Dean. Manages liaison with nursing organizations to ensure College visibility. Oversees special projects. Represents and serves as an ambassador for the Office of the Dean.

Key Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Administrative and Project Management - Manages a broad range of academic, faculty affairs, research and business activities and projects within the Office of the Dean. Monitors school-wide progress on strategic goals to ensure effective results; acts as Dean’s primary liaison with Associate Deans, Division Chairs and Directors from all areas to monitor status of goal achievement and to ensure timely follow-up is conducted. Acts as point person and keeper of centralized and confidential information to ensure effective and efficient follow-up for the Dean. Analyzes information and initiatives to direct the appropriate flow of incoming and outgoing communications for high volume effectiveness. Compiles and analyzes data, statistics and other information.
  • Meeting Management and University Liaison – Staffs and coordinates follow-up for key academic affairs, faculty affairs, research and business management meetings; oversees the liaison and follow-up with University and College constituents on all Office of the Dean activities.
  • Oversees Dean’s Office Support - Supervises office staff, oversees work flow to ensure productive, timely and reliable results; designs and implements office systems and central records management to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of administrative operations for the Office of the Dean, specifically in areas of faculty affairs, tenure, research support, academic affairs, and business. Manages budget for the administrative support team.
  • Dean’s Communications/Speeches – Manages high volume written communications for the Dean including strategic goal development, progress reports, and presentations. Prepares a wide variety of remarks and speeches for the Dean in support of a fast paced and demanding schedule of initiatives and activities.
  • College and Professional Visibility - Manages liaison with nursing organizations to ensure College visibility on a national and international level. Manages extensive follow-up as appropriate. Coordinates communications with five major nursing organizations. Recommends and tracks faculty nominations for awards, participation on national boards and committees.
  • Special Projects - Plans, manages and tracks a high volume of special projects and special events for the Office of the Dean; includes key initiatives with international scope. Oversees the coordination of the office’s Hospitality Center for visitors; oversees school-wide special events. Represents and serves as an ambassador for the Office of the Dean.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications Required:

  1. Bachelor's degree in business administration, management or a field related to the position
  2. Two years of professional level accounting, managerial and/or business experience, one year of which was at an administrative level
  3. Demonstrated experience working with faculty affairs policies and procedures for rank, appointment, promotion, and tenure

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Five or more years of administrative and/or managerial level experience; demonstrated work experience in an institution of higher learning, performing duties related to Faculty Affairs such as Promotion & Tenure
  • Demonstrated knowledge of faculty affairs policies and procedures for rank, appointment, promotion, and tenure
