The laboratory of Dr. Alessandra Eustaquio is seeking a talented and motivated postdoc candidate who would be interested in contributing to a NSF-funded project. The major goal of this project is to investigate the role a conserved family of nonribosomal peptides play in proteobacterial behavior such as motility, biofilm formation, and host interaction. https://eustaquio.lab.uic.edu/

Design and perform experiments related to the project, discuss and present results, advise students, write scientific papers.

Ph.D. in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Chemical Biology or a related discipline by the appointment start date. Successful candidates should have a publication record in microbial natural products research or related field.

Desired Qualifications: Experience with microbiology and molecular biology as applied to natural products research are desired. Experience with genetic engineering and transcriptomics are a plus.

Specific, DESIRED Skills include: Bacterial cultivation, molecular biology techniques including gene inactivation and expression, metabolite analysis by HPLC and LC/MS, RNA-seq, scientific writing, undergraduate and graduate student training.
