Job Summary:

UI Health Diagnostic Services is seeking two (2) Medical Sonographer Technolgists to join the Mammography team.

Shift: 8:30 am - 5:00 pm

Shift: 9:00 am - 5:30 pm

Medical Sonographers operate specialized equipment that transmits high frequency, ultrasound waves in order to produce images of the areas scanned. Employees in positions allocated to this level of the series administer standard ultrasound scans of patients and perform other basic duties related to the examination

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Performs ultrasound scans within the Mammography/Breast Imaging section providing complete and accurate imaging for diagnostic assessment
  • Positions patients for scans; sets up and adjusts equipment for each scan.
  • Prepares supplies, instruments and equipment and assists physicians during related procedures such as breast biopsy
  • Selects and adjust equipment and transducers to appropriate settings to obtain, record, store, transmit and print optimal images
  • Confers with radiologist to determine if additional images or information is required
  • Utilizes the radiology information system to process patient information and billing
  • Communicates with other departments to successfully schedule various exams for the patients and schedule of same day add-on patients
  • Provides technical assistance and instructions to students, employees, and medical residents.
  • Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned

 

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications Required:

  1. High school graduate or equivalent.
  2. Current/valid registration, certification or licensure in Medical Sonography (Breast), accreditation in sonography by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (RDMS).
  3. American Heart Association BLS CPR Certification.
