The UIC College of Pharmacy, Departments of Pharmacy Practice and Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Services seek an Associate Director of Specialty Pharmacy Services to join the Specialty Pharmacy Services (SPS) team.

The Associate Director of Specialty Pharmacy Services is responsible for assuring the best practices, coordination, quality, and cost­ effectiveness of operations provided in the University of Illinois Specialty Pharmacy. The Associate Director directs Assistant Directors, Coordinators, and support personnel and works with them to define, achieve and maintain the goals, objectives, and standards of practice to assure optimal patient outcomes. The Associate Director functions under the direction and philosophy of the College of Pharmacy and the Department of Pharmacy.

The Associate Director of Specialty Pharmacy Services will serve as a national spokesperson to represent, communicate, and promote UI Health Specialty Pharmacy Services to other providers, administrators, legislators, researchers, and others as needed. This will require the ability to travel.

The Associate Director of Specialty Pharmacy Services will organize, plan, implement, and support research activities related to specialty pharmacy and public policy as it impacts the Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Services Department.

Clinical Faculty responsibilities include the provision of didactic lectures at various Health Science Colleges and serving as a preceptor for student pharmacists, PGY1 and PGY2 residents, and fellows regarding specialty pharmacy and pharmaceutical public policy. Scholarly activities, including presentations and publications, are an expectation as well. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited PharmD program with an ASHP accredited residency in pharmacy or equivalent pharmacy experience required
  • Minimum 3 years specialty pharmacy experience
  • Program and/or personnel supervisory experience
  • Candidates must possess knowledge and skills such that they qualify for a non-tenured faculty position with the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the UIC College of Pharmacy. Rank is commensurate with experience.
  • Candidates must be licensed or eligible for Illinois licensure as a professional pharmacist
  • Exceptional oral, written and interpersonal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Preference will be given to applicants with managerial experience in the following areas: contracting & network applications with government & private payers, pharmacy accreditation, 340B knowledge and experience, quality management, and project management
  2. Advanced training in business, public health, pharmacy/health administration, or a PGY2 residency
  3. Current involvement with and preferably a leadership role in national specialty pharmacy organizations
  4. Infusion/home infusion experience
  5. EPIC Systems experience
