The University of Illinois at Chicago, Facilities Management is seeking to fill four Electrician positions.  To install, repair and maintenance of electrically powered systems, and equipment, including distribution systems and equipment.  Must have knowledge and follow accepted procedures and techniques of the electrical trade.

The Electrician repairs, and maintains electrical equipment, distribution systems, controls and signal equipment. He/she inspects the work site and determines material and tools requirements, and methods of repair. The Electrician lays out work, assembles equipment, and fabricates distribution runs. The Electrician is responsible for transporting tools, material, and equipment to the work site.

The Electrician installs new work and completes small remodeling work. He/she inspects the work site and determines material, equipment, and tool requirements and method to be used. The Electrician plans, lays out, installs and assembles material and fixtures as required by scope of work.

The Electrician repairs, maintain and calibrates electrically operated controls and devices, such as communication devices, signals devices, fire warning and security devices, patient care equipment at the Health Sciences Center etc.

Perform related duties as required within classification specifications.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications Required:

1. High school graduation or equivalent.

2. Experience sufficient to qualify as a journeyman Electrician, with a minimum of (5) years of actual work in the trade, including apprenticeship or vocational training. The trade for this purpose shall include work normally performed by Electricians i.e. installing, maintaining, and/or repairing electrical systems, generators, transformers, motors and other electrical/electronic controls, electrical switchboard and other apparatus utilizing electricity, electrical, electronic and direct digital control systems, fire and alarm systems, and associated electrical, electronic and fiber optic equipment.
