The Department of Pharmacy Practice at the University of Illinois Chicago College of Pharmacy is looking for a Clinical Faculty (Open Rank)/Clinical Pharmacist/Assistant Director to join the Specialty Pharmacy Services (SPS) team. Wood Street Pharmacy is an accredited specialty pharmacy through Utilization Review Accreditation Commission (URAC) and Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC).

Assistant Director responsibilities include directing, coordinating, and organizing operational functions and overseeing pharmacists and technicians. The selected individual will develop and implement a high-capacity central fill, mail order and specialty pharmacy as the operational leader, identify opportunities to improve and expand pharmacy services, optimize pharmacy workflow and patient care, lead regular meetings with key personnel, assist the Associate Director to develop long and short-term strategic plans, interact with internal stakeholders, payers, and manufacturers, and promote pharmacy services internally and externally.

The academic responsibilities of the clinical faculty member (Clinical Assistant/Associate/Full Professor) include the provision of didactic lectures and precepting entry level Doctor of Pharmacy students, PGY1 residents and PGY2 residents. Scholarly activities, including presentations and publications, are an expectation as well.

Clinical Pharmacist responsibilities include providing clinical pharmacy services to patients seen at the University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System and Wood Street Pharmacy Specialty Pharmacy Services. 

We are looking for a motivated compassionate individual who is a team player, possesses strong oral and written communication skills; demonstrates flexibility and ability to work independently and adapt to a changing work environment; excellent time management and organizational skills, and is committed to excellent patient care.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Candidates must be licensed or eligible for Illinois licensure as a professional pharmacist.
  • Candidates must be a graduate of an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy PharmD program.
  • Candidates must possess knowledge and skills such that they qualify for a non-tenured clinical faculty position with the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the UIC College of Pharmacy. Academic rank is commensurate with experience.
  • Three years of pharmacy management and/or clinical leadership experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Able to demonstrate knowledge /skill in resolving medication related problems and/or insurance issues.
  • Experience in specialty pharmacy and ambulatory care pharmacy.
  • Completion of a post graduate training (residency and/or fellowship).
  • Postgraduate business or pharmacy management coursework or equivalent knowledge and experience.
