Assistant Dean for Pre-Clinical Curriculum & Evaluation

The University of  Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria seeks an Assistant Dean for Pre-Clinical Curriculum & Evaluation.  The Peoria regional campus provides education for 200 medical students and 240 residents and fellows in 11 disciplines.  Our two major academic affiliate hospitals are located within 6 blocks of the medical school campus and contain over 850 hospital beds.  The medical school is a partner in the 67,000 sq. ft. Jump Trading Simulation and Education Center (www.jumpsimulation.org).  Jump provides state-of-the-art simulation for use in education and assessment.

The successful candidate for this position will hold a MD/DO or PhD/EdD degree and have a minimum of one-year experience in education of medical students, including some involvement in either the first or second year curriculum preferred. The candidate will provide leadership in the development, implementation, innovation, and evaluation of the undergraduate pre-clinical curriculum by working with department heads/chairs, course directors, and individual course faculty.  Work in collaboration with the course directors and faculty to implement the course and other educational experiences in the M1 and M2 year that are aligned to the level of students. Discusses with students and faculty program evaluation of M1 and M2 curriculum for curricular improvement. Serve as liaison on both local and college curriculum committees as a representative of Academic Affairs.  Develop and implement policies and procedures that are aligned with accreditation standards, guidelines and educational outcomes in collaboration with Assistant Deans/Associate Deans locally and across the regional campuses.  Participate in regional and national presentations and other scholarly activities to highlight the work done in the regional campuses.
