The primary purpose of the Building Service Worker is to ensure upkeep and cleanliness of various offices, lobbies, stock areas, elevators, stairwells, and other facilities and spaces operated by Campus Parking Services.

This schedule will start at 6:00am or 6:30am.

Essential Duties

Intermediate

10%

Responsible for performing custodial tasks which include, but may not be limited to the following:

 

a.     Using the floor covering as a guide, sweep, dust, wet mop, or vacuum all floor surfaces as necessary.

b.     As necessary, dust all horizontal surfaces, including desk tops, tables, and shelves.  When required, apply the proper cleaner to remove stains and dirt.

c.     Clean and sanitize restrooms thoroughly by using the appropriate cleaning detergents and solvents.  All fixtures, including mirrors, should be cleaned regularly.

d.     Assure that all paper towel and tissue dispensers are adequately filled for a full day’s use.

e.     Maintain an adequate inventory of supplies by reporting levels to the Coordinator of Maintenance and Construction.

Empty all waste receptacles and replace can liners.  All trash should be                                                                                                                                          removed to appropriate containers.

Clean and sanitize all drinking fountains, sinks, and water coolers throughout office facilities.

As necessary, spot clean glass and walls to remove handprints and light soil.

As directed, strip and wax vinyl, tile, paver brick, and concrete surfaces using University approved methods.

As directed, shampoo carpeting and furniture using industry and University approved methods.

As necessary, move and set up office furniture and equipment in order to perform maintenance functions.

As directed, wash interior and exterior windows of parking facilities.

As necessary, remove snow from main entrances to and steps in parking facilities.

Measurable learnings (e.g. Can perform at an Intermediate level of Excel and Word, Typing at 50 wpm, Advanced knowledge of research protocols, etc)

 

Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required, as well as the ability to make independent and discretionary decisions.
