Job Summary:

The School of Public Health, Community Health Science department is seeking a Program Coordinator to support the Center of Excellence in Maternal & Child Health (MCH) on their team.

Responsible for student recruitment, student tracking and competency measurement; responsible for the development and management of the Alumni Mentoring Program, the Undergraduate/Graduate Mentoring Program, the MCHB funded Title V MCH Internship Program, and the  MCH Advisory Committee; responsible for organizing and keeping track of all curricular changes and student issues (e.g., changes in courses, tracking of practicum experiences and products, performance measurement, etc.), conducting evaluations to demonstrate effective grant implementation, and assisting in preparation of all grant related products/deliverables and reports. This individual also manages the program’s marketing plan and alumni relations, uses and develops social media applications to connect the MCH program to the larger MCH community, and develops and implements career and professional development training for both alumni and students. The individual will also manage an administrative assistant and provide guidance and oversight to the three Irving Harris Scholars who are employed as graduate research assistants. 

Key Responsibilities/Duties:

  • MCH Marketing including the development of social media postings and marketing materials including print and video materials for the MCH, MCH-Epidemiology (EPI) and Title V/MCH Internship Program; development and execution of a marketing plan.
  • MCH Career Development, Alumni Relations, and Relationship with Funders-works closely with SPH staff to promote the career development MCH students and works closely with alumni to both connect them to current MCH students as well as to enlist them as ambassadors for future students; interacts with funding agencies including progress report preparation.
  • MCHP Curriculum Oversight – provides oversight for all recruitment and curricular issues for MCH and MCHEPI MPH and PhD programs including Adolescent Fellows, Harris Scholars/Early Childhood Scholars.
  • MCH Student Management including Title V MCH Internship Program, Alumni Mentoring Program, Undergraduate Mentoring Program.
  • MCH Advisory Committee Management including interactions with the MCH Advisory Committee.
  • MCH Technical Assistance, Continuing Education and Collaboration Activities including the implementation of multiple workshops and webinars with community and governmental partners to increase the knowledge of the MCH workforce and wider MCH community; LEND–CoE-MCH Book group; Region V and VII Collaboration; collaborations with U of MN CoE, and CityMatCH internship.
  • Grant Writing, Grants Management, Grant Evaluation for multiple grants from public and private sources.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree. 
  • A total of one (1) year (12 months) of experience in educational and/or scientific health studies/programs related to women, children, and families; public health, or related field. 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in public health, public administration or related field (e.g., sociology, psychology) preferred.
  • Knowledge of data management and statistical analysis software and desktop publishing programs; maternal and child health issues and/or Title V; program/project management and program development; student relations; social media; alumni relations; mentoring; and communities of practice.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and grant-writing skills; organized, excellent command of software for program and grants management and student and alumni tracking. Ability to design programs in response to emerging needs.
  • Ability to deal effectively with various personalities and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
