Job Summary

The University of Illinois at Chicago, Hospital and Health Sciences System is looking for qualified candidate to fill the role of Assistant Director of Clinical Operations for the Heart/Lung Health Center. This role assists in the direction of clinic-support operations and services of one or more Ambulatory Clinics, including finance management and program development. It also assists the Director in developing and implementing new policies, procedures and work practices for the Clinics.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities


Operations Management
Perform clinic rounds to ensure efficient operation of the clinic. Examine nursing stations to prevent any delays in delivery of patients' services. Monitor patient flow through customer satisfaction program development.
Analyze patient charts to generate patients' audits and census reports at physicians' requests.
Maintain referrals database.

Development of New Policies/Procedures/Work Practices
Contribute to and support, the development of new policies, procedures, systems or work practices by coordinating the input of others. Participate in new disciplines (specialties) program development. Review compliance issues and safety protocols in the clinic.

Staff Training
Prepare and deliver educational materials on team work, professional courtesy, and procedural consistency in the clinic to customer service reps.
Finance / Budget Management
Assist senior management with budget preparation: analyze prior year clinic performance statistical data (patients' number, patients' mix, visits per physician, etc.) and project business growth.
Monitor monthly supply budget. Obtain medical supplies for new physicians. Generate reports through Doc Direct to track spending on medical supplies and equipment.
Develop personnel and general expense budgets.

Staff Management
Interview, hire, orient, lead, mentor and evaluate performance of staff to meet departmental and organizational needs.
Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications

    1. Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, or a closely related field
      AND
      Three (3) years (36 months) of work experience as a fiscal manager or administrator in a health care facility that involved the management of a medical practice plan
      OR
    2. Bachelor's degree in another field
      AND
      Five (5) years (60 months) of business experience in a non-clerical position that involved organizing, planning, and decision-making responsibilities, three (3) years (36 months) of work experience must come from work as a fiscal manager or administrator in a health care facility that involved the management of a medical practice plan
      OR
    3. Seven (7) years (84 months) of business experience in a non-clerical position that involved organizing, planning, and decision-making responsibilities, three (3) years (36 months) of work experience must come from work as a fiscal manager or administrator in a health care facility that involved the management of a medical practice plan
