THIS POSITION WILL WORK 100% REMOTE

The University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System (UI Health) is seeking to fill the position of Business Administrative Associate (Cost Accounting and Benchmarking Coordinator) for the Business Planning and Decision Support department.  This position maintains and enhances the cost accounting system, Axiom. Supports clinical operations and UIH strategic initiatives through planning and analysis using Vizient benchmarking tools and CompData.  Develops measurement and reporting tools in support of strategic programs.

 

  • Coordinates financial data processing from internal sources into Axiom.
  • Processes monthly Axiom cost accounting system updates
  • Leads annual cost studies with major clinical areas of UI Health
  • Performs necessary maintenance of Axiom
  • Serves as primary internal and external liaison for Syntellis/Axiom and Vizient
  • Provides the operational intelligence required to identify, examine, and improve organizational performance to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
  • Helps to identify the performance improvement strategies by providing the information in connection with the metrics of the Benchmarking tools such as Vizient and CompData for overall performance the organization needs to make critical business decisions.
  • Leverages technology to ensure that automated solutions and applications (i.e. MS products, BO, Access, etc,) support functional objectives. Identifies gaps and proposes solutions where necessary.
  • Provides education to department managers during the interpretation of their departments’ operational benchmarking.
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with vendors and peer managers
  • Designs and develops standard and ad hoc reports to effectively translate complex data into decision support tools for management.
  • Develop performance reporting and metrics for clinical programs and services (i.e. Productivity and Census reports)
  • BDPS representative on some UIH committees and meetings.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or a field related to the position.
  2. Two (2) years of professional business, financial, and/or managerial work experience.

    (NOTE: A Master’s Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year (12 months) of work experience.)

This position requires Illinois residency within 180 days of the hire date

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or a field related to the position (Healthcare Administration or Healthcare Financial Management) 
  • Experience working with cost accounting or decision support tools 
  • Two (2) years of experience in health care, which includes financial responsibilities 
  • Experience working in an academic medical center or large teaching hospital 
  • Knowledge of health care business planning principles, practices, methods, and techniques 
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.  Decision making ability. Ability to work effectively with public and staff
  • Knowledge and experience in healthcare business planning, decision support, and process improvement
  • Experience with health plan benefit structures and provider reimbursement arrangements. Knowledge of clinical and operational improvement processes.
  • Advanced profiency with MS Excel
  • Ability to make independent decisions and have effective presentation skills
