Provide standard informationational services to patients of the University Health Service, Occupational Medicine Clinic and medical surveillance patients.  Provides customer related services wtih campus clients to ascertain, promote and monitor the quality of services provided. 

Assist with COVD saliva testing.  Correctly schedules and registers patients for appointments in Agility and in Epic by obtaining and recording basic demographic data and insurance information if applicable in accordance with prescribed policies and procedures.  Prepares individualized saliva testing kits for departments.  Assists with obtaining department lists for COVID saliva testing.  Helps register and escort patients in the ETC Clinic (COVID clinic). Helps with assisting to put together swab kits for COVID testing.  Assists with mass vaccination events. Performs N95 respirator fit testing.  Enters information including test results into Agility by scanning or quick loading as necessary.  When needed directs patients to appropriate facilities at University of Illinois Hospital and Outpatient Care Center such as laboratory, Radiology, etc. 70%

Accepts, screens and routes incoming telephone calls appropriately and takes accurate messages for UHS and UHS based call center.  Relays messages to appropriate person in timely manner.  Coordinates patient flow including but not limited to greeting incoming patients, serves as an information resource for patients by answering questions concerning departmental procedures, services and policies.  10%

Researches complex inquiries for quality control concerns and solves problems on individual cases when appropriate.  Composes complex correspondence to University Departments, i.e. departmental policies.  Reports patient feedback, identifies problems and trends, and suggests resolutions to higher level personnel.  10%


Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.  10%

Education: High school graduation or equivalent. 


Experience:   Any combination totaling three (3) years (36 months) from the following categories:  responsible work experience in customer services, public relations, office administration, business and financial operations, healthcare administration or other closely related experience or college coursework which included courses in business administration, communications, public relations or similar area of study as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
30 semester hours equals 1 year (12 months)
60 semester hours equals 2 years (24 months)
90 semester hours equals 3 years (36 months)
120 semester hours equals 4 years (48 months)


Knowledge: Knowledge of rules of composition, punctuation, etc.; Working knowledge of automated patient information system data requirements and data entry methods; Knowledge of the interrelationships of patient service departments

Skills:  Ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); Ability to meet deadlines, ability to prioritize workloads, process patients with speed and accuracy; Ability to relay information (speaking and writing) so others will understand and to understand what others are saying.


 Abilities:  Excellent interpersonal skills:  the ability to develop cooperative working relationships with UHS, clinic personnel and other university personnel; the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with patients of varying socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds.  Ability to comprehend, interpret, follow and communicate oral and written instructions including policies and procedures.  Ability to manage one’s own time and the time of others
