The University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System is seeking to fill the position of  Business Administrative Associate (Revenue Cycle Process Improvement Manager) for the Patient Accounting department.

The Revenue Cycle Process Improvement Manager manages administrative and operational activities for ongoing revenue cycle optimization and improvement projects, in particular in support of the Epic System process integration across UI Health.  Ensures that activities are carried out in accordance with established timeliness and specifications; coordinates interdepartmental functions in order to minimize project delays or course correction when necessary. Meets with key stakeholders across the revenue cycle on a regular basis to review project status and develop future action plans.

  • Provide project leadership over process improvement and optimization projects. Assist in the design, training, and implementation of support activities for affected areas.
  • Provide advice and counsel serving as a consultant to revenue cycle application staff, other staff and physicians.
  • Collaborate with UI Health business partners, technicians, technology staff and vendors to define project scope, desired results and deliverables.
  • Create and update project documents, policies, preserve and maintain key project information for future use and reference.
  • Assign individual responsibilities, and manage tasks to meet deadlines. Oversee deliverables assigned to colleagues, vendors, and others to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Meet with team members on a regular basis to review project status, keep stakeholders informed of changes, and plan for future actions. Manages and facilitates team and user meetings. Communicates relevant updates to management and physician leaders.
  • Develop, drive and maintain a detailed project schedule with team input, including schedules, project milestones, metrics, work plans, resources, communication plans, issue resolution plans, and status reports. Identity project risks/gaps and create risk mitigation plan.
  • Represent UIH Revenue Cycle on various clinical, operational and technical improvement and optimization initiatives.
  • Monitor revenue cycle regulatory compliance, provides guidance on maintaining and/or improving compliance.
  • Monitor the needs and successes of improvement and optimization projects.
  • Support sustainability and workflow monitoring of improvement and optimization projects.
  • Maintain on-going accountability forums, support open communication and drive change control/issue resolution processes between integrated areas.
  • Complete and/or review monthly monitoring of KPIs for integrated areas and identity opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist in escalation of issues or opportunities across integrated revenue cycle units to appropriate leadership forums.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or a field related to the position.
  2. Two (2) years of professional business, financial, and/or managerial work experience. (NOTE: A Master’s Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year (12 months) of work experience.)
  3. Demonstrated experience with Revenue Cycle in an academic hospital or professional billing or related support revenue cycle department.
  4. Demonstrated administrative management experience managing process improvement and/or optimiztion activities.   

This position requires Illinois residency within 180 days of the hire date.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Epic Revenue Cycle experience. 
  2. Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  4. Working knowledge of healthcare technology and clinical applications/EMR.
  5. Working knowledge of performance improvement methodologies.
  6. Supervisory and administrative abilities. Decision making ability.
  7. Ability to learn and develop education for new computer applications and application upgrades.
  8. Knowledge of management principles, practices, methods and techniques.
  9. Project/Program Management training, education or work experience.
