Hospital Pharmacy Services seeks an experienced full-time 340B Pharmacy Technician Specialist.  This position will assist in maintaining and optimizing the 340B Drug Discount Program to include monthly reporting, split billing software maintenance, quarterly self audits, and all areas of regulatory compliance related to 340B for the covered entity. Reviews and integrates the flow of data to identify issues that may affect the integrity and compliance of the 340B program. Participate in external audits and government audits.  Excellent  written and verbal communication skills and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation is required. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, basic operation of a workstation, knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations, and knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations is required. 

  1. Data Collection. - 20%
    1. Collects data to provide information and statistics related to all areas of responsibility as assigned. 

    2. Monitor 340B reports in Epic and make recommendations as appropriate.

    3. Responsible for entry of data from various sources into MacroHelix and Epic, maintaining computer reports, various word processing and spreadsheet application and other computer functions as required and as assigned, specifically:

      - Responsible for keeping MacroHelix up to date, which includes crosswalks, departments, etc.

      1. Auditing – 23%
        1. Responsible for auditing various data sources and documentation records according to established protocols, as required by the Departmental 340 B program and as assigned.
        2. Run 340B reports weekly, monthly, quarterly and take appropriate action on the report.
        3. Auditing of departmental performance to ensure compliance with the program and report results to the 340B Oversight Committee.
          1. 340 B Program.- 30%
            1. Serves as the hospital pharmacy’s point person for questions relating to the 340B program.
            2. Collaborates with personnel to facilitate the 340B program success and ensures State and Federal regulatory compliance requirements are met.
            3. Participates as a member of the 340B Oversight Committee and performs duties related to the committee as needed.
            4. Represent hospital pharmacy during mock/ actual audits – including navigating a patient chart, finding documentation of medication administration, answering auditor’s questions relating to accumulations.
            5. Assists in development and implementation policies and procedures related to the 340B program.
            6. Collaborates with hospital purchasing to manage non-McKesson accounts/ accumulations and related questions.
              1. Communication. – 15%
                1. Disseminates information to pharmacy managers and other hospital committees.
                2.  Distributes, presents, and audits reports.
                  1. Answer telephone promptly and courteously in accordance with UI CARE standards. All calls should be answered by the second ring. – 2%
                    1. Other related duties as assigned. – 10%
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1.  Five (5) years experience of progressively more responsible experience comparable to that gained at the Pharmacy Technician III level

  • Often, employees performing these specialized duties will be qualified through the use of Specialty Factors specific to the program to which the position is assigned.

2.  Current registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board

3.  State of Illinois Pharmacy Technician License

4.  Demonstrated experience in managing pharmacy technology systems (for example Omnicell systems, EPIC, Cerner, split billing software, etc.)

5.  Demonstrated experience utilizing a 340B management system (such as MacroHelix, Sentry, or Verity) to collect, analyze, and disseminate complex 340B data to ensure program compliance requirements are met.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICAITONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in finance, business, healthcare administration or other related field
  • Apexus Advanced 340B certificate
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise
  • Three years experience in managing pharmacy technology systems (for example Omnicell systems, EPIC, Cerner, split billing software, etc.)
  • Three years demonstrated experience utilizing a 340B management system (such as MacroHelix, Sentry, or Verity) to collect, analyze, and disseminate complex 340B data to ensure program compliance requirements are met
